When applying for one of the most popular positions in public sector banks – SBI Clerk, aspirants should thoroughly understand about its eligibility criteria. There are basic qualifications essential to meet the bank’s regulations and the role’s duties and responsibilities. Only if aspirants can fulfil all the eligibility norms can they register and apply for the exam.
Here are some of the essential SBI Clerk eligibility criteria 2021 you need to know before getting started with the online application process.
- Nationality –
All aspirants applying for the SBI clerk position should be Indian citizens and hold valid proof of ID as Indian nationals. NRIs or people residing abroad may not be eligible to apply.
- Age Limit –
Candidates registering and applying for the SBI Clerk Prelims and SBI Clerk Mains exam should be of a minimum age of 20 and a maximum of 28 as of 01-01-2020. It means candidates must have been born no earlier than 02-01-1992 and no later than 01-01-2000, inclusive of both dates.
However, there is some relaxation on the upper age limit depending on the category of the candidates. Following is the age relaxation:
- Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST) – 5
- Other Backward Classes(OBC) – 3
- PWD(SC/ST) – 15
- PWD(OBC) – 13
- PWD(Gen/EWS) – 10
- Ex-Servicemen or Disabled Ex-Servicemen – According to the number of years in defence services plus 3 years, 8 years for disabled ex-servicemen belonging to SC/ST up to a maximum upper limit of 50 years.
- Widows, women who are divorced and women judicially separated from their husbands and not remarried – 7 years to a maximum of 35 years for General/EWS, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST.
- Academic Qualification –
To meet the SBI clerk eligibility criteria 2021, candidates should possess Graduation in any discipline from a legitimate University that is recognized or any central government-recognized educational qualification. Besides, given below are some other criteria to fulfil the academic qualification norms:
- If you hold an Integrated Dual Degree, the date of passing should be on or before 01-01-2021.
- Final year graduates may apply. However, they should carry a valid proof of clearing their final graduation exam on or before the joining date and apply provisionally.
- Ex-servicemen who have joined the Indian Army can provide their Indian Army special education or other recognized certificate under the Navy or Air Force. However, they should have rendered service in the armed forces for not less than 15 years.
- Other Criteria
Apart from the above criteria, there are other applicable eligibility factors. If you are working as a clerk of PO in SBI, you may not be eligible to apply. Moreover, candidates who don’t hold good moral conduct reports or have negative reports against their character are not eligible to apply. Candidates who have not paid timely credit card dues, loan payments, or those who have negative CIBIL reports or hold negative credit score reports from other agencies are not eligible to apply. All these criteria may be checked beforehand.
